Part-time Song Leader

The Song Leader will be a Spirit-filled person dedicated to helping our congregation praise God through singing. We are seeking an individual who is comfortable leading both traditional hymns and contemporary Christian worship songs.  The Song Leader will demonstrate successful encouragement and development of congregational singing.  The Song Leader will lead by example of personal Christian faith and worship.

Recognizing our mission โ€“ Serving All People Through Godโ€™s Grace and Love โ€“ she/he shall conduct her/his responsibilities in a helpful and cheerful manner while serving our members and guests.

Responsibilities & Supporting Action

   Primary Responsibilities

  • Weekly Sunday Worship Services at 8:00am & 10:30am
  • Mid-week services during Advent & Lent
  • Lead singing of hymns from the Lutheran Service Book
  • Lead singing of contemporary Christian worship songs
  • Work with the pianist/organist to familiarize the congregation with new songs at the beginning of services
  • Rehearse with instrumentalist as necessary, to ensure a quality worship experience.

   Job Skills and Requirements

  • Experience and understanding of worship and the Gospel
  • A commitment to teamwork and support of all church ministries
  • Vocal training and experience working in a church setting preferred

   Reporting

  • The Song Leader reports to the pastor

   Seasonal Worship Music Planning

  • Plan seasonal and festival worship in accordance with the liturgical calendar.
  • Plan Lent and Advent mid-week services and the Holy Week experience.

   Hours and Compensation

  • The Song Leader role is a part-time position.  The compensation is $150 per service plus mileage. 

   Job Skills and Requirements

  • A solid grounding in the Lutheran understanding of worship and the Gospel.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of liturgical worship and a willingness to include contemporary Christian music.
  • Training in music performance and experience working in a church setting.
  • A commitment to teamwork, and support of all church ministries.
