In 2017, our membership made a significant decision to transition from the council based governance model to Policy Governance.
Policy Governance establishes a unified Governing Board responsible for overseeing the ministry, staff, and finances of our congregation. This board serves as representatives of the voters, alleviating the need for monthly voter meetings while maintaining accountability to them. It operates under the authority entrusted by the congregation and ensures regular communication to keep voters informed about important decisions.
This governance framework distinctly delineates the roles of the board and staff, clarifying responsibilities and promoting efficiency. It also allows flexibility to establish committees as necessary, such as forming a committee to review insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage or to draft the upcoming year's budget for approval.
Overall, the adoption of Policy Governance reflects our commitment to effective leadership and stewardship within our congregation, fostering clarity, accountability, and strategic oversight in our decision-making processes.
